A Man Laid Dead on Ocean Drive Friday Night

A man laid dead on Ocean Drive Friday night.

From the safety of Wet Willie’s

a camera filmed his corpse.

Frolickers sipped frozen drinks as a body

once alive was now stationary and breathless.

The Mayor said this was an isolated incident.

South Beach business would go on as usual.

Because this is usual.

Every Spring Break another dead body

or three.

A body mere yards from the sand.

If he was alive maybe he could hear the waves.

But for the dead there is no more swimming,

no more sunburns,

no more good times nor bad.

This man after all was just a man.

His importance nothing

compared to the income from a resort economy.

The party must go on. And then

a man laid dead on Ocean Drive on Saturday night.
