Aye, Miami — ready for a wee bit of craic and some whisky? The Auld Dubliner. Aye, a lashing of whisky and Guinness will have you wired to the moon. No. Jesus, Mary & Joseph, don’t be a melter, The Auld Dubliner Irish Pub’s Grand Opening is this weekend.
This Downtown Miami bar adds another dimension to the corridor, which is quickly emerging into arguably the coolest part of town. Tourists might think Wynwood is on fire, locals know downtown is definitely in the running. Miami is a weird city, a mixed bag of nuts. The Auld Dubliner will fit right in. ‘Sláinte!’
‘Sláinte!’ is Irish for cheers, by the way, and is pronounced ‘slawn-CHA’, if you didn’t know.
Auld Dubliner Miami
Mr. David Higgins, the bar’s proprietor, is no stranger to Irish bars in Miami. He operated the now defunct South Miami bar Irish Times.
If you know Higgins, you know he’s legitimate Irish: wild, funny, loyal, generous.
“Everybody works hard in Miami, they even work hard at having fun” said David Higgins. “I wanted to create a pub that makes it easy to relax, have fun and enjoy good food and a fine compliment of whiskeys, beer and wine to help melt the busy-ness of the day away.”
Nestled directly across from the Miami-Dade County Courthouse, the Auld Dubliner Irish Pub and Kitchen is easily accessed by public transportation, is convenient to parking and is steps away from Government Center. Saunter on over. Their Happy Hour seems legit, 3pm to 8pm, $3 beers, $4 wine and $5 cocktails with a bunch of food specials. For more information, visit their website.
