Dwyane Wade deserves better than this.
Today, with some flair outside the arena, Wade’s legacy statue, was revealed.

Only 15 NBA players in the world have statues outside arena’s. This is a big deal.
After the reveal, it didn’t take long for Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, and any Heat fan’s phone to blow up. Everyone is saying the same thing. What on Earth is this? It’s so ugly. It doesn’t look like him. The proportions are wrong. Statue Wade looks aged and his head fat. His facial expression is of angst not triumph.

One user says “Why does he look 81?”
Another user “That face looks like it wants to take a shit.”
And another user “Looks more like Laurence Fishburne.”
We agree. This statue looks like a 81-year-old Laurence Fishburne either needing to take a shit or just taking a shit.
Dwyane Wade Statue
This statue is a gift from the Miami Heat not only to Dwyane Wade but also to the city of Miami.
Some of us go to games, we drive by the arena, or ride bike past. No one wants to see this statue in perpetuity.
The Miami Herald reports that the statue was created by sculptors Omri Amrany and Oscar León of Rotblatt Amrany Studio, which has also created the “Michael Jordan Spirit” statue in Chicago and Kobe Bryant’s “Black Mamba” statue in Los Angeles.
We predict there will be a major backlash against this ugly statue and it will be re-done, or, touched up.
Dwyane Wade and the city of Miami deserve better.
If it’s not remade then oh well, we are home to the ugliest NBA statue on the planet.
