Fort Lauderdale International Book Fair Takes Place Saturday

The Fort Lauderdale International Book Fair takes place Saturday, February 3,  at Esplanade Park in downtown Fort Lauderdale. This event is completely free to attend and family friendly.

The book fair showcases local authors and vendors from the South Florida community. Some of these authors include Christiana Lilly, author of the book 100 Things To Do in Fort Lauderdale Before You Die, Mirella Baker Bemmel, author of Building Blocks to an Abundant Life: Design the Life You Desire, Howard Minsky, founder of the “Conserve Our Wild” literacy program, Kevin O’Connor, author of Two Floors Above Greif, Traci Hall, author of Murder in a Scottish Shire series.

These authors and many more will have their books for sale at our event. Our nonprofit is run entirely by high school and middle school student volunteers from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School and other schools in the area. We had over 30 student volunteers at last year’s event. We took part in collecting books for Mirella Baker Bemmel, who sent them to Gambia to benefit a brand new school opening there.

Fort Lauderdale International Book Fair promotes literacy in the community by showcasing local authors. It allows people to meet authors and speak to them about their experiences as authors. We also encourage children to read and write books with our author book readings as well as showcasing Howard Minsky’s program “Conserve Our Wild” that gives children the opportunity to write and publish their very own books.

Our event has live music, food trucks, author readings and signings, an interactive art station, a raffle and much more. In conjunction with our event, we are holding a writing competition open to all South Florida elementary and middle school students. For more information visit our website at

We hope to see you there!
