Miami Book Fair Is Live Streaming Virtual Author Readings

Those that enjoyed wandering into Books & Books to hear whatever author might be speaking on any given night, don’t have to give up on author readings cold turkey. Books & Books and The Miami Book Fair are making do with our age of social distancing by hosting virtual author readings. Here’s a selection of upcoming talks to keep the bookworm in you stimulated.

Saturday, May 2, 4 p.m. A Virtual Author Reading Afternoon With Fanny Singer and Alice Waters discussing Always Home: A Daughter’s Recipes and Stories.

Register here to hear the mother (Alice Waters, owner of Chez Panisse Restaurant in Berkeley, California)  and daughter (Fanny Singer, author of Always Home), “chat together about their unique world of food, wine, and travel, filled with mouth-watering traditions and sumptuous feasts.”

Friday, May 8, 7 p.m. A Virtual Evening with Brad Meltzer  to celebrate the publication of The Lincoln Conspiracy in conversation with Mark Trowbridge.

You must purchase a copy of the book here to attend this event which sees the best selling author Brad Meltzer discuss his new work about a little known earlier conspiracy to assassinate Honest Abe.

Tuesday, May 12, 7 p.m. A Virtual Evening with Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue discussing  What Makes a Marriage Last.

The celebrity couple (Donahue was a television journalist and Thomas an actress) will share what they learned authoring What Makes a Marriage Last: 40 Celebrated Couples Share with Us the Secrets to a Happy Life.

Thursday, May 14, 6:30 p.m. A Virtual Evening conversation between Francesca Momplaisir and Edwidge Danticat.

The two authors of Haitian descent will discuss Momplaisir’s new novel, My Mother’s House,  which has been advertised as “an uncompromising look at the immigrant experience and an electrifying page-turner”.
