Our first short story contest, The New Voices Fiction Award, closed with forty-six submissions. A member of Jitney’s team was assigned the stories and tasked to deliver a short list. Eight stories were sent along blindly meaning it was one big document, with eight stories, all titled, but no author name. Time to judge!
What fun! They were all great! Truly. So diverse and creative and well-written, all.

A young woman enters a time-traveling wormhole to a place and era when natives lived.
A widow is lost after the death of her deaf husband until she stumbles across a potential kidnapping plot concocted by a group of deaf kids!

We had so much fun with this contest and learned so much that we have decided to make the New Voices Fiction Award a biannual contest.
Our next reiteration is already live.
