For locals pining for a return to normalcy, restaurants reopening in Miami Beach on Wednesday is welcome news. For those fearing that the worst of coronavirus is yet to come, the fact that social gathering spots are back in business is a source of anxiety.
If the little stretch of restaurants on Sunset Harbor including restaurants like Pubbelly, Barceloneta, and Sardinia are any indication of the number of people going out to eat, quarantiners should prepare to have a panic attack or two.
None of the restaurants were overly packed. They all seemed to be following whatever arbitrary guidelines have been set up for this new normal. Tables seemed to have slightly more distance from what we were once accustomed. But after all this shut down, it was jarring to see a scene of what we once took for granted in 2019. People actually going out as a group and taking the chance of breathing the same air as strangers.
