Pepper Charters – This Isn’t a Pleasure Cruise

Pepper Charters really isn’t a pleasure cruise, it’s an eco-adventure / historic tour of our beautiful Biscayne Bay by boat. Even if you’ve been on a boat around here, if you haven’t been on this specific boat, you haven’t seen these parts quite like this. See Stiltsville, the Cape Florida Lighthouse, and the Safety Valve up close. Learn the history, geology, and hydrology of these places. But if it’s windy, you might get a little wet, and salty. At 19 feet long, Waits For It fits four to five people (plus your captain), reaches up to 30 miles per hour, and can easily access water as shallow as 2 feet deep.

Your Captain is Luis Garcia, author of Missing, a collection of short stories published by Jitney Books in 2016. He’s a Miami native, storyteller, naturalist, and amateur historian. But he’s also a licensed and insured charter boat captain.

Weather permitting, join him every Friday, Saturday, (and possibly Sunday), leaving from Gramps Getaway at Rickenbacker Marina at 12 noon, starting the weekend of May 24th.

In fact Memorial Day Weekend is the weekend you’ll get a chance at these tours for free. He’ll be at Gramps Getaway running the tours for a few friends, taking tips only. But there may be some open spots. He’s trying to fit two tours into one day, the afternoon tour being also a sunset tour! After this first weekend, these tours will no longer be free.

So, get over to Gramps Getaway, grab a drink or lobster roll or both, and see if you fit into a tour. At the very least, see the boat and meet the Captain. He’ll be there the following weekend (weather permitting, of course). You can book on his website for the following weekends.

But remember, it’s not a pleasure cruise. Bring the right shoes. A drink. Sandals work just fine. Like I said, you might get wet and boat is stocked with ice and water only.
