After rejecting Jitney Books request for credentials to cover Ultra Music Festival, we had to spend our own dime to learn this year’s edition was an “epic fail,” complete with a tree catching fire, thousands of people having to walk four miles to get home, and a sponsored slot on the main stage by KFC featuring DJ Colonel Sanders.
Despite our harsh coverage Ultra reached out to us. They wanted us to help get out to the world what a smashing success Ultra was in 2019 and how it will be back next year, March 27-29, 2020. There is no mention of next year’s venue, nor whether DJ Ronald McDonald might be performing.
To extend an olive branch to our EDM overlords, we have decided to print their promotional e-mail in full…
Hello,
Thank you again for your interest in ULTRA Music Festival 2019. As previously mentioned, our media list was significantly reduced this year, however we hope to accommodate additional publication for Ultra 2020, on March 27, 28, 29th.
ULTRA Music Festival’s 21st edition sold-out & made its mark this past weekend with its Miami Marine Stadium & Historic Virginia Key Park debut. Over 170,000 guests from 105 countries ventured to Miami to experience the magic firsthand.
Throughout the weekend guests could choose between 8 separate stages spanning across 2 scenic main sites. Dance music mainstays Marshmello, Martin Garrix, and The Chainsmokers respectively closed out the Main Stage across the three nights, while the Carl Cox Megastructure hosted epic closing sets from Carl Cox, Carl Cox B2B Marco Carola, and Adam Beyer B2B Maceo Plex.
Additional highlights included the exclusive unveiling of deadmau5’s highly anticipated ‘Cube 3.0′ concept stage, the introduction & implementation of ULTRA’s Mission:Home sustainability initiatives, and guest appearances by Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth, Shaq & Rae Sremmurd.
Sadly, there was no link to DJ Colonel Sanders’ performance.
Here it is anyway for your viewing pleasure.
