Coconut Grove Film Festival Takes Place this Weekend

Set to take place at Cinepolis in CocoWalk from January 12-14, 2024, Coconut Grove Film Festival will feature three days packed with diverse and captivating films, including the East Coast premiere of Brando De Sica latest film, Alden Ehrereich‘s Oscar shortlisted film, and a retrospective on Pelé, featuring the acclaimed film produced by Ivan Orlic. The festival kicks off with an opening party at Il Giardino at Mr. C on January 12th, promising to be an evening of elegance and celebration.

A highlight of the festival is the panel discussions at the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove on the morning of January 14th. Oscar-winning director and local Coconut Grove resident David Frankel, known for films like The Devil Wears Prada and Marley & Me, is the keynote speaker. David, alongside a lineup of prominent film industry professionals, will be at the heart of the festival’s mission to amplify Florida voices and redefine the narrative around Latin cinema.

This special panel, which includes Felipe Torres Urso and Xavier Manrique among others, will delve into breaking Latin clichés and presenting new, authentic perspectives in filmmaking. This unique conversation will explore and discuss the evolving landscape of cinema, as we commit to fostering diverse, innovative, and meaningful storytelling in the heart of Florida.
