Tea & Poets to Host Jitney Author Readings This Weekend

Looking for something to do this weekend?

Come out to Tea & Poets and support local Jitney authors as they read from their new novels.

On Saturday, November 6 at 7 pm a pair of writers who wrote books about characters named Benny will share the spotlight.

Timothy Schmand will read from The True Tales of Bad Benny Taggart, a late 20th century American coming-of-age journey that is far from a straight path. Faced with larger-than-life danger and confronted by mysterious folk he never could have imagined, Benny wrestles his way toward whatever adulthood may bring.

David Rolland will read from Yo-Yo, a fictional tale about Benny James, the world’s greatest yo-yoer. As Benny navigates his weird world he learns life really can be like a yo-yo. Sometimes it’s up, sometimes it’s down, and sometimes it smacks you right in the face.

Then on Sunday, November 7 at 7 pm, J.J. Colagrande will read from his new edition of Headz the Trilogy. First published in 2011, it features a diverse cast of rebellious American characters from New York, San Francisco, and Miami. The book follows their journey across the country to Chicago for Oracledang! — the biggest and baddest festival of the summer. Once there, paths converge for an event none of the characters will soon forget and a concert only a few will get to see.

Tea & Poets is located on the first floor of Sunset Place at 5701 Sunset Dr. Unit 126, South Miami, FL 33143.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
